Suits (2007)

Xerox Print, 30 x40”

I felt this compositional “decapitation” could reveal more about my subjects than the classical head shot approach to the portrait. Returning to “straight” photography, I aesthetically pay homage to cinematic traditions, namely film noir and early science fiction films, that have etched the archetype of the businessmen and the landscape of downtown into the public imaginaire. For “Suits”, I returned to a voyuerist ritual of people watching while I wander through downtown Los Angeles that I developed in junior high.
